Why I came home
Candidly, I woke up one day in a life that people kept telling me was great and couldn't stand it. I felt lost, unfulfilled, and empty. It was a Sunday and I hadn't been to church regularly in a long time, and I felt like I really needed to go. So I went.
From there, a series of small but fairly quick changes began to unfold in my life. When I looked around at the people ten-plus years older than me, I didn't want to be them, so I figured I must be in the wrong place.
I came home to Utica because my family was still here, and as an adult who had lived in many cities and traveled to many countries, I felt like God was asking me to head back. Truth be told, I love it here. The things I grew up never appreciating became extremely clear over a decade of living everywhere else. My family, my friends, and my community are here, and I thank God this is where He put all of those people.
Before Utica: Department of Defense, Wall Street analysis, management consulting, software development, marketing, and several businesses of my own.
